Delegate Election Process

This information describes the rank order process to be used for the Seventh Triennial Convention of Women of the ELCA to be held July 8-10, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Triennial Convention is the highest legislative authority of Women of the ELCA (Article XI, Section 1). Voting members of the Triennial Convention are (1) the officers of the churchwide women’s organization, (2) the presidents of the synodical women’s organizations and (3) those women elected as delegates by the conventions of the synodical women’s organizations. (Article XI, Section 5, Item 1)

This paper (see links at right) sets forth the step-by-step rank order process to be used in the synodical women’s organizations for the election of delegates. All delegates and alternates must be elected at a synodical convention that precedes November 30, 2007, the deadline for reporting delegate elections.

Should you have any questions about the process, please direct them to Marilyn O’Connor, assistant director (800-638-3522, ext. 2727; marilyn.oconnor@elca.org), or Linda Post Bushkofsky, executive director (800-638-3522, ext. 2740; linda.bushkofsky@elca.org).

Note: All constitutional references are to the Women of the ELCA Churchwide Organization Constitution and Bylaws, unless otherwise noted.
