Looking back ... looking ahead

Laurie NelsonBeing involved in more of my local church's activities, serving four years on our synodical board, attending Women of the ELCA conventions and triennial gatherings: This is now a lifestyle. The training I received by the churchwide anti-racism network has made such an impact on my ministry and my personal life that I can't thank the women who support it enough. It is my prayer that this important education continue in the future. This has been and will be important for the future.

To be lost and then invited in,
To attend a gathering and feel welcomed,
To get involved and feel purpose,
To stay involved and experience feelings in my life as I have never felt before,
To feel the Holy Spirit take control of my life through a sisterhood that is empowering —

I have been welcomed, found purpose, [been] changed by the Holy Spirit in my everyday life.
I have been blessed, loved, humbled, fulfilled, accepted, cleansed, and empowered.
This has been my experience in my 10-year involvement with Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Thanks be to God.

Laurie Nelson
